Cultivating Situational Awareness: A Key Element of Our Safety Culture

As we strive for excellence in all our G2 operations, safety remains our top priority. Our commitment to safety extends to every employee, from the newest hire to the most experienced veteran. We believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a safe workplace and that by working together, we can minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. To achieve this, we must cultivate a strong safety culture where safety is an integral part of our daily routines and decision-making processes. Starting with my favorite safety topic – Situational Awareness.

Situational awareness plays a critical role in our efforts to maintain a safe work environment. It means being aware of our surroundings, identifying potential hazards, and taking appropriate actions to mitigate them. Furthermore, we must “Stop the Process” when observing unsafe practices, which is a critical step in maintaining safe operations. By promptly identifying and addressing unsafe behaviors or practices, we can mitigate potential risks and prevent accidents or injuries from occurring. Whether it’s halting an aircraft approach, suspending a baggage operation, or pausing any other potentially hazardous activity, taking immediate action when unsafe practices are observed helps ensure that proper procedures are followed.

Remember, safety is everyone’s responsibility. We must all work together to help prevent accidents and injuries to ensure that everyone goes home safely at the end of each day.

Stay Safe!
